RA and foot surgery

By | July 13, 2011
The Eye of Sauron is upon me. He who must not b named has cursed me. I’m on the Dark Side. Ding dong the Wicked Witch is not dead.

Dang it.

I ran out of villains.

I think I’m digging the Eye, or “He who must not be named”?

What do you think?

Oh, wait, you don’t know what I’m talking about, do you?

Rheumatoid Arthritis. The Big bad wolf.

The last six months have been kind of miserable health-wise. I got the lovely diagnosis, had two hand surgeries, and most recently, ripped a tendon in my foot. All due to the RA.

Like the carpal tunnel, this foot problem occurred overnight. I woke up one day (about a month ago) and my big toe was sticking straight up and hurt like a mother. Now, I’m a little more in tune with my feet than most people, but I think anyone would notice this.

This.

As freakish as my toe looks, I think this is a nice shot of my ankles, if I do say so myself.

For those of you that know me, you KNOW that my feet have always been an issue. It could have something to do with the resemblance they bare to a certain cartoon character…

Note the wide, duck foot shape, and the big toe that points upward. Yabadabadoo.

Now, despite being freakishly wide and ugly, my feet are screwed up. I’ve had EIGHT foot surgeries. Seven just on the right one. And next week I will have my eigth on that foot. Which means I’ll have had a total of NINE foot surgeries, and TWO hand surgeries.

Blech.

I’m not going to bore you with the details as to why I’ve had so many foot surgeries. I have a titanium joint implant in my right big toe, maybe next week I’ll put a photo up of it. I actually have some (what I consider to be) cool pictures from surgeries in the past. I’ll try and have my podiatrist take some gruesome ones of the next one.

Oh goody, you say ????

Anyways, I don’t want to leave you all with those dreadful pictures of my feet. I’d rather leave you with something pretty.

Cheers, ya’ll!

Yah. It’s pretty sucky. I actually was more grossed out with the whole hand/wrist thing than my feet. I don’t know why, but that creeps me out more than anything!
